01
Student Founder of the Year
The standout individual — a student running something real alongside their studies.
YSA · Campus heats November 2026
A university-student track run with partner campuses across the UAE and region — because the best time to find a founder is before anyone else is looking.
Student founders are systematically underserved. They rarely have a company, almost never have capital, and are usually told to come back when they're 'more ready'. Meanwhile they have time, technical skill, and no fear of the thing not working.
YSA gives them a real stage, a real panel, and a route into the same ecosystem their professors read about. For us it's the earliest possible touch on the pipeline — and a reason for every university in the region to send us their best people.
Five awards for students and recent graduates.
01
The standout individual — a student running something real alongside their studies.
02
The best idea to come out of a university programme, lab or society.
03
Ventures tackling a community, environmental or accessibility problem.
04
For teams who built the thing rather than just describing it.
05
The team the panel most wants to see again in three years.
Partner universities run qualifying rounds on their own campuses in November, with our team on the panel.
Winners from each campus progress to the regional shortlist, scored on the standard rubric.
Finalists present alongside MESA in December, in front of the same investor room.
Winners get a place at the next Idea Challenge, mentoring from the expert panel, and support to incorporate if they choose to.
Hosting a YSA campus heat costs nothing and gives your entrepreneurship programme a visible regional endpoint. We bring the format, the scoring rubric and a panel member; you bring the room and the students.
Partner universities also get standing invitations to the investor breakfasts and a channel to place graduates into cohort companies.
